We believe in the recovery, conservation, diffusion, and perpetuation of the Andean Cosmovision and its alliances. SUMAK means great, beautiful, good, goodness, beauty, and well-being. KAWSAY means life. Following and practicing Sumak Kawsay's cultural norms can bring a person fulfill her life. Whoever follows Sumak Kawsay’s principles and practices can demonstrate its effectiveness.

Sumak Kawsay embraces the spiritual and religious belief systems and way-of-life teachings of indigenous civilizations from the broader Inca Empire region and those embraced by the Inca tribe in Peru, as well as many of their ceremonial and non-ceremonial customs and practices.

The Sumak Kawsay maintains a cultural order which can be recognized in all Andean peoples, from southern Colombia to northern Argentina. The official language of these peoples today is Quechua and Kiwcha. The principles of Sumak Kawsay can currently be founded in the customs traditions and in the constitutions of Bolivia and Ecuador. Older texts speaking of Sumak Kawsay can’t be found, as the Andean culture and the Incas themselves, who were the ones who most spread the Quechua language throughout the Andes, have been based on and maintained through an oral tradition of the people.

This network is meant to enrich communication between members of our communities and families around the world who participate in the traditional ceremonies of the SUMAK KAWSAY culture.

Maybe we can't do Sweat lodges and Medicine ceremonies on the web, but here on Sumak Kawsay Mighty Network, we come really close to it.
